A Message from Jimmy Patricks Unzi, Executive Director of RefPIC

The global refugee crisis is not a distant issue confined to headlines. It is a deeply human story unfolding across borders and generations. Today, more than 123 million individuals have been forcibly displaced, fleeing conflict, persecution, and environmental disaster. Behind each number is a person with a name, a profession, a family, and a future interrupted. At Refugee Pathways and Integration Canada Inc. (RefPIC), we believe that displacement does not mark the end of a story. It is the beginning of a new journey, rooted in rights, dignity, and hope.

Canada has earned global recognition for its humanitarian leadership. But recognition alone is not enough. Action is required. RefPIC works in alignment with core international frameworks including the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol, the Global Compact on Refugees, the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework, the Sphere Standards, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These are not theoretical guidelines. They shape how we design and deliver our work every day. Whether supporting a skilled refugee through a complementary pathway such as Canada's Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot or providing Education services in a prolonged emergency, our commitment remains clear: to protect lives, restore dignity, and build pathways to belonging.

To the Individuals and Families We Serve

Your journey matters deeply to us. Whether you arrived through a UNHCR referral, a humanitarian corridor, or a complementary pathways, your presence affirms the reason we exist. You are not merely adapting to new systems. You are helping transform them. You bring professions, languages, wisdom, and strength that enrich every community you join. We are committed to walking alongside you. Access to housing, healthcare, education, employment, and a sense of belonging is not a distant aspiration. It is your right. Whether you are rebuilding your life in Canada or navigating displacement in Sudan, Jordan, or elsewhere, you remain at the center of our mission. We deliver services to meet you where you are, because your resilience deserves recognition and support.

To Our Donors and Philanthropic Partners

You are not simply funding programs. You are helping reshape systems and open doors. Your investment may support a nurse displaced from South Sudan to requalify and practice in Saskatchewan, or provide trauma counseling for Syrian children in Lebanon. Whether your support enables education pathways, mental health care, housing access, or emergency response in conflict zones, your impact extends beyond individual lives. It strengthens the shared global responsibility we all carry. We hold your trust with great care. Through transparency, accountability, and measurable impact, we ensure that every contribution helps build a future grounded in dignity, equity, and opportunity.

To Our Partners, Colleagues, and Allies in Implementation

You are the backbone of the global refugee response. Non-governmental organizations play a vital role in delivering essential services, advocating for rights, and shaping policy. Whether distributing shelter and medical aid, or building programs for education, mental health, and legal support, your leadership transforms lives and systems. From a Jordanian refugee camp to a Ugandan settlement or a Canadian city, your local knowledge and commitment are the heartbeat of effective action. Together, we advance protection, strengthen resilience, and honor the shared promise of humanity.

To Our Staff, Volunteers, and Frontline Professionals

You are the driving force behind our mission. Whether stationed in refugee camps or urban classrooms, advocacy halls or immigration offices, your compassion, urgency, and professionalism make the difference. Frontline professionals including social workers, case managers, health providers, and legal advisors deliver direct support that restores dignity and hope. Volunteers extend our reach with practical help, emotional care, and specialized skills. Behind-the-scenes staff keep the systems and partnerships running smoothly. Your dedication turns vision into reality. You are not just part of the response. You are the reason it succeeds.

To Our Regulators and Public Institutions

We recognize the vital role you play in creating the enabling environment for organizations like ours to operate responsibly and effectively. Your leadership in public policy, resource allocation, and oversight sets the foundation for a coordinated and just refugee response. Whether through immigration frameworks, funding mechanisms, or legal governance, you ensure that services are safe, lawful, and impactful. We value the spirit of collaboration and coexistence that defines our shared mission. Together, we are working toward a society where the rights of refugees and displaced persons are fully realized.

In Closing, Refugee Pathways and Integration Canada Inc. is built on the principles of the humanitarian, development, and peace triple nexus. We know that protection and opportunity are not separate. They are interdependent, and neither can succeed without the other. Just as crisis and resilience are not separate phases but lived realities, our response must be both urgent and forward-looking. We meet refugees and displaced persons where they are — in transit, in camps, in resettlement, and in the process of rebuilding lives. Our goal is not simply to deliver services. It is to stand beside those we serve, ensuring dignity, agency, and inclusion at every turn. Inclusion is not a slogan. It is our method, our ethic, and our guiding principle. To the newcomers we support, to the donors and partners who walk beside us, to the colleagues and professionals who carry this mission forward, and to the institutions that enable our work — this is your movement. Together, let us continue to build a future anchored in justice, fueled by solidarity, and shaped by our shared humanity.
