About Us
At Refugee Pathways & Integration Canada (RefPIC), we are driven by a profound commitment to empowering refugees, displaced persons, and their host communities through sustainable, long-term solutions. Guided by the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to rebuild their life with dignity, we focus on creating lasting impacts that extend far beyond immediate relief. Our work fosters resilience, economic independence, and social cohesion, laying the groundwork for brighter, more sustainable futures for those we serve.
As a nonprofit organization regulated by the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, RefPIC operates with the highest standards of governance, transparency, and accountability. We rigorously adhere to both federal and international regulations, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and offering full visibility into how our efforts directly benefit refugees and displaced persons. This commitment to accountability strengthens the trust we build with our partners, stakeholders, and the communities we serve.
Our work is anchored in the Triple Nexus approach, which integrates humanitarian assistance, development initiatives, and peacebuilding efforts. This holistic framework allows us to address the complex needs of refugees in a way that promotes not only survival but long-term resilience. By focusing on sustainable livelihoods, social integration, and the preservation of cultural heritage, we create pathways that enable refugees to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their new communities.
Globally, RefPIC aligns its mission with key international frameworks, including the 1951 Refugee Convention, the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR), and the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF). These global guidelines ensure that our programs uphold refugee rights, promote family reunification, and provide access to vital services such as education, legal aid, healthcare, and employment opportunities. We also contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).
Our partnerships extend across borders, as we collaborate with governments, humanitarian agencies, and local organizations to deliver comprehensive services that meet global standards. RefPIC’s efforts are further supported by adherence to sector-specific guidelines, such as the UNHCR Guidelines on International Protection, the Sphere Humanitarian Charter, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. These frameworks guide us in delivering services that meet the highest humanitarian standards, ensuring that our work is effective, ethical, and impactful.
At RefPIC, we go beyond immediate relief to foster sustainable, empowered futures for refugees and displaced persons. By building inclusive communities, promoting economic independence, and preserving cultural heritage, we work hand-in-hand with our global partners to create spaces where both refugees and host communities can grow and thrive together.
We are proud of our dedication to transparency, accountability, and unwavering compliance with national and international standards, making RefPIC a trusted and credible partner in the global movement to support refugees and displaced persons.

Our Story
Refugee Pathways & Integration Canada (RefPIC) was established under the Canada Nonprofit Act with a vision to create a world where refugees and displaced persons are empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity, self-reliance, and hope. Although we are a newly formed organization, our foundation is built on years of collective experience in humanitarian aid, development, and peacebuilding from professionals who have worked at the forefront of global crises. Inspired by the pressing need for a holistic approach to displacement, we have embraced innovative frameworks to ensure our efforts are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with best global practices.
Our journey began with the recognition that the challenges refugees face are multifaceted and interconnected. From accessing essential services to finding long-term solutions, these challenges require more than temporary fixes. That’s why RefPIC was born: to provide a comprehensive and compassionate approach to the complexities of displacement. Through our dedication to continuous improvement and adaptability, we are building a nonprofit capable of responding to immediate needs while creating pathways for sustainable futures.
Our Approach
Our approach is firmly rooted in the Triple Nexus framework, a transformative concept established by the United Nations in 2016 to integrate humanitarian aid, development initiatives, and peacebuilding efforts into a cohesive strategy. The Triple Nexus was introduced as a strategic response to the growing recognition that humanitarian crises, development challenges, and peacebuilding needs are deeply interconnected and cannot be effectively addressed in isolation. Instead, these areas must be approached simultaneously to achieve sustainable and lasting outcomes in complex and often protracted crises.
The framework emphasizes the importance of aligning immediate humanitarian responses with longer-term development objectives and peacebuilding strategies. This integrated approach ensures that while we address the urgent needs of refugees and displaced persons—such as food, shelter, healthcare, and protection—we are also laying the groundwork for sustainable development and fostering conditions conducive to peace and stability.
By applying the Triple Nexus in our work, we ensure that our programs are not only responsive to immediate crises but also contribute to long-term stability, resilience, and peace. Our approach allows us to:
-
Respond to Immediate Needs: We provide timely humanitarian aid to address the most pressing needs of refugees and displaced persons, ensuring their safety, health, and dignity during crises.
-
Promote Sustainable Development: We integrate development initiatives that empower individuals and communities to rebuild their lives, access education and employment opportunities, and achieve self-reliance.
-
Foster Peace and Stability: We engage in peacebuilding efforts that address the root causes of conflict and displacement, promote social cohesion, and support the peaceful coexistence of refugees and host communities.
This holistic strategy enables us to tackle the complex and interrelated challenges of displacement. By fostering resilience and promoting sustainable development in the communities we serve, we aim to transform the lives of refugees and displaced persons, helping them to overcome adversity and build a better future. Through the Triple Nexus approach, we are committed to creating lasting positive change that extends beyond immediate relief, ensuring that our efforts contribute to a more just, equitable, and peaceful world.
